I have listened to many artists for a long time from different genres. I listen to pop,rock,sad,melodic,jolly music. So the question of choosing a favourite artist is always perplexing for me. I usually can’t choose a favourite artist in an absolute way so now when asked this question i usually consider it on criteria that i can enjoy irrespective of time of day or my mood. Also the artist has variation in his music that is my criteria for choosing favourite singer.

The singer that i like very much is The Weeknd. He is a pop singer who is Canadian by nationality. He makes from peppy vibe songs to sad songs still having a great vibe. I Have listened to him for a very long time. I was introduced to him by my old cousins who just came across english pop songs. The first songs i listened to were “i can’t feel my face” and “starboy”. These songs are a perfect representation of an artist who incorporates his genius music making skills and impactful lyrics. From that time i was hooked to his music and never let go. I know weeknd is very famous now but that doesn’t discredit his achievements as the highest grossing artist on spotify. I like his musical genius and the fact that he focuses more on quality than quantity which results in each of his albums being a banger.

Other than that there’s an undeniable fact that he came from humble beginnings releasing music on youtube anonymously. His lyrics sometimes make you cry and sometimes make you bump your fist in air in a mood of part and that’s what i like about him as an artist. There haven’t been many artists like him who consistently make good music and never miss which i respect and enjoy.

His recent album just reinforced my love for him after listening to every track in that song made me realise just why he is the highest grossing artist in the whole world.

So all in all i could never select just one artist as my favourite but if somebody just told me I’ll be allowed to listen to The weeknd music for the rest of my life i wouldn’t be too upset about it.
